Joe has extensive experience in commercial litigation in all court jurisdictions, having appeared for his clients in the High Court of Australia, Federal and Federal Circuit Courts of Australia, New South Wales Supreme Court, Court of Appeal and New South Wales Land and Environment Court.

He has also represented clients in the District and Local Court of New South Wales, Supreme, Magistrates and County Courts in Queensland, Victoria and Tasmania and the New South Wales, Queensland, Victorian and Tasmanian Civil and Administrative Tribunals.

Joe has advised and acted for corporate clients ranging from small-to-medium enterprises to large multi-national corporations as well as directors, insolvency practitioners, trustees and private clients. He assists his clients across a broad scope of complex disputes including contractual and financial disputes, insolvency and bankruptcy proceedings, trusts disputes, shareholder, partnership and franchise disputes in addition to recovering debts to preserve the financial status of a corporation or private client.

Joe has a focus on developing a thorough understanding of all the issues his clients are facing either in business or privately and aims to achieve the most efficient and realistic outcome, acknowledging that early resolutions can be preferable to contested litigation. Accordingly, Joe’s background and extensive legal, financial and business experience provide him with strong negotiation skills that have achieved positive outcomes for his clients outside of the court process.


  • Litigation in the High Court of Australia, Federal and Federal Circuit Courts of Australia, Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, District Court, Local Court, Magistrates and County Courts in Queensland, Victoria and Tasmania and New South Wales Civil and Administrative Tribunal
  • Commercial litigation and dispute resolution including disputes in relation to director's duties, financial services & banking, managed investment schemes, trust disputes and class actions
  • Acting for and advising liquidators, receivers, administrators, directors, shareholders and trustees in relation to disputes arising under the Corporations Act, Bankruptcy Act and Trustees Act
  • Advising and acting for the Deed Administrators of a global Managed Investment Scheme in claims made against and by its investors arising from the collapse and alleged breaches and mismanagement of the scheme
  • Advising and acting for insolvency practitioners in legal proceedings including receiverships, winding up applications, unfair preferences, voidable transaction claims and public examinations
  • Advising and acting for clients in relation to equitable claims, leasing, property and construction disputes and claims in relation to the Personal Property Securities Act 2009 (Cth)
  • Advising and acting for corporate and private clients in relation to breach of contract claims and negotiating deeds of settlement and release for large debt recoveries
  • Negotiating with all levels of stakeholders in disputes to resolve claims
  • Advising corporate and private clients on all aspects of complex commercial, financial and business disputes
  • Competition and consumer claims including misrepresentation and misleading and deceptive conduct
  • Strategic commercial, business and risk management advice to both corporate and private clients
  • Involvement in alternative dispute resolution including conciliation, mediation and expert determination
  • Providing strategic advice to clients on avoiding and resolving disputes early in the process
