Abbey has been practising for 9 years in workplace relations, employment and discrimination matters, and has been with Russell Kennedy for 8 years. Abbey assists clients to understand the continually changing industrial relations and employment law landscape by regularly presenting at seminars, as well as contributing to client alerts.


  • Abbey drafts, negotiates and advises on employment contracts, independent contractor agreements and policies for a wide range of clients including disability service providers, aged care facilities, medical practices and community health services

  • Abbey advises health and aged care clients on disciplinary matters, redundancy processes and termination of employment and drafts related documents on behalf of clients

  • Abbey represents clients in unfair dismissal and general protection proceedings including jurisdictional hearings and conciliations in the Fair Work Commission

  • Abbey represented an aged care facility in a Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission conciliation, in relation to a complaint brought by a Registered Nurse

  • Abbey has run litigation of behalf of a medical practice and a private technology company in the state and the federal courts relating to breach of contract and breach of post-employment restraints

  • Abbey has advised on and negotiated enterprise agreements, assisted clients with the pre-approval process and the lodgement of enterprise agreements

  • Abbey advises on the interaction between enterprise agreements, transitional awards, modern awards and the National Employment Standards

  • Abbey has assisted with workplace investigations into employee conduct including for a medical practice where she interviewed witnesses and drafted statements. She also provides advice on investigation reports


  • Abbey is the Deputy Co-Convener of the Russell Kennedy Women’s Network committee
