Rachel is a litigation lawyer qualified to practise law in Victoria, New Zealand and Scotland. She has experience in all aspects of case preparation, including Court appearances. Rachel advises government departments, agencies and authorities on prosecutions, disciplinary proceedings and enforcement functions, and appears in Court on their behalf.

Rachel has previously advised and appeared as counsel for the Crown and for the Commissioner of Police in civil proceedings in the High Court of New Zealand. She has also acted as a Crown prosecutor in New Zealand’s criminal courts, and as a defence lawyer in Scotland.

  • Advising government departments and agencies on their prospects of success, and strategy during prosecutions, disciplinary and enforcement proceedings
  • Advising on new and complex legislation, statutory interpretation and policy considerations
  • Advising and appearing as counsel for the Crown in the High Court of New Zealand’s civil jurisdiction, including as lead counsel, primarily in long trials
  • Advising and representing New Zealand’s Commissioner of Police in civil restraint and forfeiture proceedings
  • Appearing as a Crown prosecutor in New Zealand’s criminal jurisdiction, and advising and appearing as a defence lawyer in the Scottish criminal courts
