Christine is a member of our Government, Planning and Environment team practising in land acquisition and compensation law, acting for State and local government clients, statutory authorities and private clients.

Christine advises clients on a range of matters associated with the land acquisition process under the Land Acquisition and Compensation Act 1986 and the Planning and Environment Act 1987, including the acquisition of interests by agreement or compulsory processes and claims for compensation.

Experience

  • Assisting the Department of Transport in respect of acquisitions of land (compulsory and agreement).
  • Purchase and sale of land in accordance with the Voluntary Purchase Scheme and Buy Back Scheme of the cancelled East West Link Project.
  • Preparing, reviewing, negotiating and arranging the execution of, and settling of, contracts of sale with vendors (or their solicitors) in accordance with the Voluntary Purchase Scheme.
  • Compulsory acquisition of easements and temporary occupation in respect of the Victorian Desalination Project (2010 to 2016).
  • Acquisitions of land (including acquisitions by agreement) and claims for compensation including commencing the acquisition process through to resolving the claims for compensation either by negotiation or through litigation in the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal and the Supreme Court.
