Goran Gelic is a Principal in Russell Kennedy’s Dispute Resolution team with over 11 years’ experience. He is an infrastructure and energy expert, specialising in a range of construction, infrastructure, energy, renewable energy, utilities, water, and waste major projects.

Goran is experienced in a variety of contract structures, as well as developing tender packages, and advising on complex procurement issues. He is experienced in the use of Building Information Modelling (BIM) on projects, and has worked with government, designers, operators and contractors on BIM policy and implementation.

Goran has also received recognition for his hard work and expertise in this area. Goran was a finalist in the 2019 Australian Law Awards.

Experience

  • Goran has acted for numerous corporations, councils and government entities across all aspects of construction. This includes updating entire procurement suites, the development of construction packages, designing and updating of contracts, as well as probity and tendering issues.
  • Acted on a number of significant infrastructure projects, including roads, rail, mining and hospitals.
  • Acted for and advised corporations, as well as government departments, on major infrastructure projects including;
    • UrbanGrowth NSW, Sydney Fish Market Redevelopment project,
    • Landcom (NSW Government Agency) $600M redevelopment of major road,
    • Bechtel, Western Sydney Airport,
    • Queensland State Government, $500M Government Wireless Network Project, $1.6BN duplication of the Gateway Bridge and upgrade of the Gateway, and
    • WA Government, $1.2 billion Perth Airport Link Project.
  • Advising clients on a variety of contract structures (PPPs, Alliances, EPCs, various traditional delivery methods), as well as standard form construction contracts.
  • Representing clients on a range of complex procurement issues, including experience in the privatisation of public assets and advising on the associated regulatory issues.
  • Acting for and advising numerous corporations and councils, in the area of dispute resolution and arbitration, which were resolved under mediation, expert determination, arbitration etc.
  • Providing various advices to Local Government NSW on its requirements under the Local Government Act 1993 (NSW) including providing advice on tendering and probity requirements.
