Russell Kennedy Principal and Chair of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, Michael Gorton AM, led the review.

Ten years on from the Assisted Reproductive Treatment Act 2008, the interim report presents preliminary findings in relation to a number of key policy areas, including:

  • positive stakeholder experiences of assisted reproduction treatment (ART) in Victoria;
  • concerns about the adequacy of oversight of quality and safety;
  • cost of ART remains a significant issue for potential stakeholders; and
  • lack of supportive and patient-centred care.

Michael provides a number of recommendations in the report, and goes on to discuss the key issues for consultation in the second stage of the review.
