On Tuesday, 17 June 2025, members of Russell Kennedy's Workplace Employment and Safety team hosted an online seminar on Workplace Relations - Trouble on the home front: working from home arrangements in 2025.

We are seeing an increasing number of disputes in relation to working arrangements in 2025. As employers are seeking to roll back remote-working arrangements which have been in place (in some cases) since the lockdowns of 2020 and 2021, we are also seeing employees pushing for full-time working from home arrangements. Recent Fair Work Commission decisions indicate that while the Commission is taking a very common-sense approach to the issue, there are still several ways for employers to get it wrong.

This session was aimed at helping employers to better understand where the boundaries are, and how to effectively deal with disputes, based on recent decisions and our own experiences.
