This webinar will discuss key governance, legal and risk implications that aged care providers should focus on and integrate into their strategy as we move out of the initial COVID-19 response and into the next phase. 

Our presenters will explore key risks for this new phase and provide a practical recovery management framework that providers can consider to assist position their organisation. 

This session will also help providers anticipate some key areas of focus for the ACQSC and provide insights into how to prepare for this. 

Joining us will be Anthony Black, Senior Risk Consultant from Ansvar Risk Management Services, and Russell Kennedy aged care principals Anita Courtney and Solomon Miller. Victor Harcourt will facilitate the session and we will also have a team answering your questions during the webinar.

Victor has a Masters in Health and Medical Law and was named Best Lawyers' 2014 Melbourne Health and Aged Care Law "Lawyer of the Year" and was recognised in 2012 - 2020 for his expertise in Health and Aged Care Law.

He was also recognised in 2014 - 2020 for his expertise in Government Practice and in Retirement Villages and Senior Living Law in 2017 - 2020.

Anthony has led Ansvar’s advisory support to clients throughout the Pandemic including publication of the well regarded Ansvar Risk Alert Series. Anthony is a nurse by background and has held clinical, management and executive roles in health, aged and community care for over 20 years.

Anita Courtney

Principal

Anita is a principal in the aged care team at Russell Kennedy Lawyers. She is focused on delivering quality and practical advice to her clients in both home care and residential care to comply with their responsibilities under the Aged Care Act 1997 and its Principles including the Aged Care Quality Standards, as well as other relevant laws. Recently she has been helping providers with COVID-19 legal issues regarding visitation restrictions and advice around minimising the risks of infection for vulnerable residents and for staff, in line with the latest Government directives.

Anita has been recognised by Best Lawyers in Australia for her expertise in Health & Aged Care Law for their 2021 listing. Anita is also a member of Jewish Care Victoria’s Quality and Service Review Committee.

Solomon acts for a range of aged care and not-for-profit clients specialising in advising them on strategic governance structures, reviews, risk assessments and mergers and amalgamations. Solomon has over 18 years’ experience and has particular expertise in documenting commercial arrangements, including corporate structures, acquisitions, restructures, joint ventures and the licensing of technology and intellectual property.

Solomon’s specific aged care and health law experience extends to regulation and compliance; service delivery models; capital grants and funding agreements; and patient rights and decision making processes (including consent and privacy obligations).
