After working as a graduate lawyer across each of Russell Kennedy’s practice groups, Sitarah commenced her career in the Insurance and Compensation Team, working in the firm’s General and Self Insurance team.

Sitarah works closely with Principals and senior lawyers at Russell Kennedy to support clients in a range of matters, predominantly in the defence of civil claims, comprising common law damages claims, statutory recovery claims and statutory benefits claims. She is committed to assisting her clients, including self-insurers, the Victorian WorkCover Authority, Sportscover, and Paper Australia Pty Ltd, in all Victorian Courts and in the Victorian Civil and Administrative Appeals Tribunal.

Experience

  • Acting for and advising the Victorian WorkCover Authority, self-insurers, Sportscover and Paper Australia Pty Ltd.
  • Advising and acting in property damage claims on behalf of public liability insurers.
  • Preparing statutory notices and other documentation for WorkCover self-insurers and attending to many settlements of claims for them.
  • Preparing successful applications for self-insurance on behalf of employers.
  • Strategic WorkCover claims management advice and investigation of claims on behalf of employers and self-insurers.
  • Negotiating the commercially effective settlement of claims on behalf of public liability insurers and the Victorian WorkCover Authority
