Melanie practises in all areas of property and is experienced in advising local governments, property developers, statutory authorities and private clients on a wide range of property-related issues.

Melanie focuses on providing pragmatic and commercially-focused advice to help clients find practical solutions. Melanie also speaks Cantonese and Mandarin and can work with our Chinese clients on a range of matters.

Experience

  • Representing local government, state government, corporate entities and statutory authorities in all aspects of acquisitions and disposals of land (including Crown land), subdivisions and creation of easements

  • Advising local government on roads law and governance issues

  • Acting for local government and water corporations in advising about and drafting contracts, tenders, requests for proposals and other specialised agreements

  • Representing private landowners in all aspects of acquisitions and disposals of residential, commercial and industrial properties

  • Acting for local government and state government in leasing and licensing matters (landlord or tenant), including telecommunications leases

  • Advising landlords and tenants on retail and commercial leasing and licensing, including negotiation, drafting and advising on leases, disclosure statements, deeds of surrender, assignments and renewals of leases

  • Advising local government and private clients with respect to adverse possession claims
