Kate is a senior property lawyer with expertise in disposals and acquisitions, leasing, property development and redevelopments and roads. Kate advises on and represents clients in commercial, industrial, retail, residential and other real estate matters and transactions, and on all government property transactions and matters, including the real estate aspects of water, gas, and energy projects.


  • Acting for local, state and federal government, water corporations, large-scale developers and statutory entities in all aspects of sales and acquisitions of land, subdivisions, easements and similar matters.
  • Acting for local and state government in leasing matters (landlord or tenant), including:
    • Drafting and negotiating the terms of all types of leases and licences (commercial, retail, ground/land only leases/licences, telecommunication leases, community hub leases/licences, mixed-tenancy building leases/licences, crown land leases/licences, caravan park leases).
    • Advising local government on leasing dispute matters.
    • Representing local government at retail lease mediations at the Small Business Commission.
  • Acting for local government in road law matters, including:
    • Advising on the status of roads and the processes for opening, closing/discontinuing and selling roads.
    • Representing local government in all aspects of road discontinuance matters.
  • Acting for local government and water corporations in advising about and drafting EOIs tenders and other procurement contracts and specialised agreements for such entities.
  • Advising local government about governance issues, fundraising/borrowing powers, rating powers, powers in relation to the disposition or leasing of land, competition and consumer law and many other issues.
