Emily works closely with Principals and senior lawyers at Russell Kennedy to support our clients in a range of employment, workplace relations, discrimination and workplace safety matters. Emily is committed to helping clients achieve strategic outcomes, which includes managing financial, legal and reputational risk when dealing with legal issues.

Experience

  • Advising on the management of employee performance, conduct, workplace investigations and dismissals.
  • Acting for clients in various claims relating to employment including unfair dismissals, general protections, underpayments, discrimination and bullying.
  • Drafting and advising on employment contracts, workplace policies and the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth).
  • Interpreting and advising in relation to rights and obligations in enterprise agreements and modern awards.
  • Assisting independent schools across Australia on managing student and parent relationships, and eliminating the risk of child abuse (including by managing mandatory reporting obligations, and appropriately responding to allegations).
  • Assisting independent schools with managing staff, including upholding expected standards of behaviour and performance, responding to complaints and defending legal claims brought by employees.
  • Advising clients on independent contractor arrangements and sham contracting.
  • Undertaking research on current employment and industrial relations issues and assisting with the preparation of publications and seminars.
