Women In Law Forum 2025
27 November 2025
On 27 November 2025, the Russell Kennedy Women’s Network was proud to attend the Lawyers’ Weekly Women in Law Forum 2025, represented by Christina Kolovos, Olga Nazha, Sonia Narduzzo, and Taylor Dawson.
This year’s forum coincided with the Women in Law Awards, where we celebrated Hannah Dickinson (Special Counsel, Pro Bono) for her nomination as Not-for-Profit, Pro Bono or Community Legal Centre Lawyer of the Year. While Hannah didn’t take home the award, she remains a true champion of pro bono work and driving meaningful change in our community.
We were also incredibly proud that Russell Kennedy was nominated as “Diversity Law Firm of the Year”. This recognition reflects our ongoing commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace and championing diversity across the profession.
Key themes from the forum included:
- Safety and Respect: Trauma-informed lawyering and positive duties to prevent harassment are essential for creating safe workplaces.
- Redefining Success: Flexibility, authenticity, and collaboration are reshaping leadership and retention.
- Gender Equality and Accountability: New legislation introduces measurable gender equality targets—an opportunity for real change.
- Technology as an Equaliser: AI and automation can dismantle bias and improve wellbeing—if implemented ethically.
- Intersectionality Matters: Women’s experiences are diverse; policies must reflect race, disability, and identity.
A highlight was Grace Tame’s keynote, which reminded us that technology is a double-edged sword. While it accelerates innovation, it also amplifies risks for vulnerable groups. Her call to action: embed safety by design, criminalise harmful tech practices, and centre survivor voices. Technology must advance ethics, accountability, and dignity—not harm.
Creating a Respectful Workplace Respect is everyone’s responsibility. Avoid assumptions about family plans, jokes about maternity leave, or behaviour that undermines authority. Instead, act with respect, speak up when needed, and champion inclusivity.
At Russell Kennedy, we are committed to fostering equality, safety, and inclusion—and continuing the work of building an inclusive legal profession.
