On Tuesday 8 September 2026, Gina Tresidder (Partner), Jamila Shirzad (Associate) and Andrew Sambar (Lawyer) hosted an online seminar on Australia's Children's Online Privacy Code.

The Children's Online Privacy Code marked a significant shift in how organisations would need to design, explain and manage children's privacy online. Scheduled to commence by 10 December 2026, the Code was set to apply well beyond social media, affecting any Privacy Act-regulated organisation offering an online service likely to be accessed by children, or primarily concerned with children's activities, regardless of the organisation's size, sector or commercial purpose.

In this practical briefing, Russell Kennedy explored the requirements of the Draft Code, considered its application to both technology providers and technology users, and outlined the steps organisations should have been taking to prepare.
