On 20 April 2026, the Fair Work Commission made an emergency Road Transport Contractual Chain Order – Fuel Cost Recovery – 2026 effective 21 April 2026 mandating full cost recovery of fuel increases since the beginning of the Middle East conflict on 6 March 2026 following recent legislative changes.
This order is likely to have implications for all businesses and workers involved in a road transport contractual chain by requiring primary parties and secondary parties in the contractual chain of industry contracts to pay increased fuel costs.
