Webinar topic: As AI adoption accelerates across public, private and regional hospitals, General Counsel face a complex and fast-moving legal landscape, and the obligations differ significantly depending on the type of hospital you advise.

  • The different privacy frameworks applying to public hospitals (Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic) and Health Records Act 2001 (Vic)) versus private hospitals (Commonwealth Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles), and what this means when deploying AI
  • Particular challenges for regional hospitals, including data sovereignty and telehealth
  • The OAIC's guidance on privacy and commercially available AI products, and what it expects of health sector organisations procuring AI systems
  • The National Framework for the Assurance of AI in Government (June 2024) and the Voluntary AI Safety Standard, and their practical implications for public hospital GCs
